America Movil and Yahoo Teamed Up to Strengthen Mobile Web Search
With the onset of Internet services made available for modern phone sets, mobile phone companies are looking for more ways to improve on wireless web browsing. America Movil, one of the leading wireless phone companies in Latin America, is teaming up with Yahoo. To date, America Movil has over 140 million wireless subscribers all over European and South America. The two companies inked an agreement to offer mobile Internet services to a total of 16 countries all across Latin America including the Caribbean.
Yahoo's oneSearch is one of the applications that can be readily available for all America Movil costumers who have handsets with Internet browsing features. OneSearch was made available in the United States since January 2007. Since then, it proved to be a user-friendly application for web browsing. According to the current deal between the two companies, Yahoo oneSearch would be the default settings every time an America Movil phone users tries to open a web browser on his or her compatible phone.
To give better web services to the locales of Latin America, Yahoo is planning to localize its search engines for each region in the said area. This would give mobile phone users easier access to the information that they need- faster and easier. Yahoo is currently developing more web services that they can offer to America Movil costumers in the coming months.
