All the hullabaloo that surrounded the iPhone made everyone think that it was the end-all and b-all of the mobile phone world. All the glamour and publicity and marketing that came with it was indeed perfect for a mobile phone celebrity. And although it is quite expensive for the average consumer it nevertheless fails to stand up to the high-rolling nominees in the contest of the world’s most expensive mobile handsets. Oh yes! When we say world’s expensive, we really mean expensive.

Leading the list is the GoldVish Le Million that will cost you, of course, $1.45 million. If you don’t believe it, the Guinness World Records has certified it the most expensive in the world. And the list goes on.

China Mobile and Apple Inc. Negotiation over iPhone Stalled

With the success of iPhone in the USA, there are a number of countries that are craving for this gadget to come to their hometown. This pocket pc, cell phone and multimedia player- in- one handset has been the dream phone of most of us. Its large touch screen is also something that would delight users. It's the total cell phone experience. China Mobile has been talking with Apple Inc., makers of the iPhone, for quite sometime to allow iPhone to be introduced in China. The talks between the two companies have been temporarily halted this week.

Virginia to Prohibit Drivers from Texting

There are several reports on road accidents due to reckless driving and some of these incidents are related to drivers who are texting, calling or using their cell phones on the road. In some states in America, the use of mobile phones while driving is strictly prohibited by law. Virginia is yet another state that claims that it would soon ban texting while driving.

FCC Concerned with In-Flight Use of Cell Phones

Airfrance together with Mobile OnAir already spearheaded the use of cell phones during a flight. This quarter, it already started a trial period on both in-flight data and voice calls. USA, on the other hand, is still not open to the idea of allowing its passengers to use mobile phones on air. The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) still has its doubt on the system that would allow such cell phone use aboard aircrafts without interfering radio communications.

Nokia to Close Down Factory in Germany

Even one of the biggest cell phone makers in the world experiences down time. Nokia, the mobile giant in the mobile phone industry, would be closing one of its factories in Germany by the middle of this year. This move would relatively cut down the cost of the company. The sad thing would be, with such a drastic move, the company would be laying off more than 2,000 workers.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is revealing their widest range of wireless devices with more exhibit space than anybody have seen at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008. The exhibit includes demonstrations of Nokia and third-party services, wireless applications, and mobile experiences. Nokia has evolved from a purely wireless hardware manufacturer to an Internet company provide software and services for the wireless industry. Nokia is also focusing its attention on the environment and in developing and using environmentally responsible business practices. The Nokia exhibit at the CES 2008 booth #30313 is located in the upper level of the south hall of Las Vegas Convention Center.
