Cingular ATT to Pay Customers for Bad Service
Old California Users to get $160USD
Cingular, now known as AT&T, will pay $18.5 million to former Californian customers who were penalized after canceling phone contracts due to poor service.
Around 155,000 customers will receive an average payout of US$160, covering the early termination fees plus interest, with a US$12.1 million dollar fine placed on Cingular making up the rest of the pay out. The settlement between Cingular and the California Public Utilities Commission covers subscribers between 2000 and 2002.
Cingular has stated that former customers can expect to receive refunds within the next 60 days. No word how you can ensure you're on the list to receive a payout.

I have been a ATT/Cingular customer for several years. Three years ago I moved to a different area. I have no service what so ever at my home. I live in a rural area in East Texas. Is there any possibility of getting more towers in our area. It is really sad to have to pay a monthly bill and cannot use the phone. I live on Farm Road 9 which connects Hwy 79 and Hwy 80 in Waskom, Texas. I have a Samsung phone. Please help. Thanbk you. Janice Barnett Anderson

I live in Pattison, Texas. Before the merger I had service at my home. Now there is no or very little service. Most of the time I have no bars. That makes your advertising not true. I hope this can be rectified in the near future.
