iPhone Formatting Made Easy
Why would someone in his right mind format his own iPhone and literally wipe out all data in their gadget? There can actually be a number of reasons. If you would want to upgrade your phone to a 3G iPhone, which is rumored to be soon this year, then you need to surrender your old iPhone. If this is the case, you shoul delete all your personal information to protect your privacy. You should also find a way to remove your email and text messages, contact list, call logs and your personal videos and images. You should always reset your iPhone if you are to sell it, give it away or dispose of it.
Here's a step-to-step guide on how to format your iPhone:
• Restore your iPhone via iTunes
• Go to Info tab and uncheck the options for synchronizing your calendars, bookmarks, contacts and e-mail.
• Go to Photos, Video and Podcasts tab and uncheck Sync--.
• Create 3 playlists with storage space as large as your entire iPhone.
• Go to Music tab and select 3 playlists to sync.
• Sync your iPhone and change to the next playlist. Do this three times.
The procedure above might get you a little confused and in doubt. What you really have done is to simply overwrite storage space on your phone. This would prevent the recovery of any important files on your phone such as email correspondence. So in case that you would discard your iPhone soon, make sure that you do a hard reset and purge your device.
