Motorola to Acquire Soundbuzz
Sony Ericsson has its own line of Walkman phones and Nokia has its Xpress Music handsets. Realizing the presence of music enthusiasts in the market, Motorola is expanding its services and wanted to offer its costumers music entertainment on the go. Soundbuzz, a player in the mobile music industry, is to be acquired by Motorola in the near feature.
Soundbuzzz is an online music store. With its acquisition, Motorola hopes to entice more music lovers to purchase their phone and offer mobile music to Motorola users particularly in Asia.
Ian Chapman-Banks, Motorola's vice president for marketing for Asia Pacific, stated that Soundbuzz would soon be part of the Motorola mobile entertainment team. The company already placed a bid to purchase the said online music store. The deal is expected to be inked within the first quarter of the year.
The acquisition of Soundbuzz would hopefully make it Asia's no. 1 online music store. The company is already working with recording companies in Singapore, Australia, and India, among other Asian countries. Motorola is also positive that Soundbuzz would be a great addition to MotoMusic, the company's very own mobile music entertainment service.
Motorola users can now enjoy music on the go. Plus they can also download all the music that they want. Motorola operates based on Open Mobile Alliance DRM (digital rights management) technology. This technology allows you to legally purchase and download music, ring tones and ring back tuners directly from your cell phone.
With Motorola's acquisition of Soundbuzz, it may not be long enough before they create their own line of music phones. Let's all watch out for that, hopefully.
