Practicing Environmental Responsibility
Nokia has always been recognized as one of the foremost leaders in responsible "green" practices. Some of their innovations will be on display at the CES 2008. The Nokia 3110 Evolve will make its debut in North America. The mobile phone is made from 50 percent renewable bio-materials. The compact mobile phone has a new charger that eats up 94 percent less energy than what is required by Energy star standards.
Nokia will also unravel its concept of green technologies for the future. They call it the Nokia Eco Sensor concept. It will examine how environment-friendly technologies can be used in the future so that they can make more sustainable devices. The concept was inspired by the three "R's" which are reduce, reuse, and recycle. It tries to look into ways of finding and utilizing radically new materials and technologies. These could be reclaimed materials, bio-materials, and printed electronics. Nokia’s Eco Sensor concept will also look into how mobile devices can be used to monitor the user’s health as well as the environmental conditions.
Inside Nokia’s environmental display, there is a recycling collection point where attendees of the CES 2008 can drop off their mobile phone as well as accessories so that these can be recycled. Any visitor can also see a few of these environmental services through Nokia devices.
