Nokia, one of the biggest mobile giants in the cell phone industry, announced that it plans to offer its consumers six to twelve fresh and new handsets for this year. Nokia has been servicing a lot of mobile phone users since it was founded in Finland in 1865. Today, it has been offering the market with a lot of options when it comes to cell phone purchases. They are offering low-end and high-end phones to cover everyone's needs and create a phone that can match up with one's lifestyle and budget.

In North America, Nokia would be offering six to a dozen new sets of phones. These new handsets would all be operator-specific. Mark Louison, Nokia president in North America, said that they are presently working and coordinating with a number of US phone service carriers and plans to develop a specific handset for each network operators. Telecomm companies that they are having talks with include Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

The first set of Nokia phones are expected be launched by the first and second quarter of 2008. Majority of the phones would be out during the second half of the year and until the first months of 2009. Last year, Nokia seemed to be less enthusiastic and only launch three phones in America.

With such a move, Nokia is looking at securing more costumers in the market in competition with other cell phone manufacturers like Motorola, LG and Samsung. At present, Nokia only has 11% market share in the US market.
Nokia look at this year with bright hopes as studies shows that more people wanted portable communication. They have also relied more in wireless services than wireline. The information on cell phone usability has been high and the company knows that the market is more selective in choosing a mobile phone. With a variety of options that Nokia would be offering this year, including difference in features, design and price, the consumers would definitely give Nokia phones a second look.
