SCH-M470: First HSUPA Phone from Samsung

HSUPA may be something new to your ear. It is the latest technology in mobile phones that is set to improve upload speed much fast and more efficient. HSUPA stands for high speed uplink packet access. Samsung Electronics is one of the first few companies that uses such technology and incorporate it in one of its newest line of handset to be offered in the market. The SCH-M470 is the first cell phone of its kind to present HSUPA technology.

The SCH-M470 is a slider type phone that can send big amounts of data with speed of 2 megabits per second on a HSUPA network. Compared to the traditional WCDA, or wideband code division multiple access, HSUPA can load data at a much faster speed. WCDA network only works on 384k bits per second. The HSUPA technology now has a faster data transmission that allows users efficient and quicker transfer of data, for uploads and downloads. Prior technology before the HSUPA is the HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access). The HSDPA offers 3.6M bps to 7.2M bps only. This may all sound kind of technical for some people. But HSUPA works simply. When a cell phone is on HSUPA network, it basically means that you don't have to spend minutes to wait for videos, songs or images to attach to your messages. If it would usually take you 45-60 minutes to send a MP3 song to another cell phone, using HSUPA network, it would only take around 30 seconds or so.

The SCH-M470 has the usual features of an advanced Samsung phone including a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth technology and WiFi connectivity. It At present, the SCH-M470 is available initially in South Korea and costs around $615.
