As a continuation of my earlier commentary where I provided concise snapshots of the leaders in the cell phone market, this second part of my article focuses on the other three best picks for this Christmas.

The iPhone from Apple

Apple has long enjoyed a healthy reputation for being one of the leaders in the computing industry and its recent addition of the iPod has made it a worthy consideration in the cell phone market. While the iPhone has some specifications which may seem a little dated, such as the camera with 2 megapixels instead of the current competitive 3.2 megapixels. In fact many other cell phone providers are even providing cameras with 5 megapixels! Also the lack of a 3GB card makes it seem outdated. However, the iPhone from Apple still manages to draw in a curious crowd. With a unique touch screen display, a fantastic MP3 playing system (having the newest version of the MP3 player iPod) the other unfriendly media functionalities of other cell phones are easily overshadowed by this cell phone.

Intuitive features like light dimming when the user is on a call and has the phone near the face, ability to see video in a large display screen area of 2.5 inches, as well as lateral views by tilting the mobile sideways – all account for impressive features! Its experience and standing in the industry can be witnessed from its numerous walkman phones and the Cybershot from which this handset is an offshoot.

Complete with a camera of 5 megapixels, top notch picture quality, LED flash and xenon quality, it also comes with a BestPic functionality to ensure high quality photos – always.

It manages to infuse sufficient high quality in MP3 playing and can download podcasts and has high connectivity speed with HSDPA rate of data transfers. This is a 3G phone with pinhole camera function at the front for video calling. Keypad can be an issue with the keys being very small in size and the direction pad embedded in the wrong direction. However, the exterior is attractive with two luminous colors – green and black as well as silver and velvet blue.
