Maria Sharapova became the very first brand ambassador for Sony Ericsson to globally and exclusively endorse the company’s products and services in a four year period. The 20-year old Maria, who will be adding a year more this April will work hand in hand with the design team of Sony Ericsson on the company’s various accessories and main products. In addition to this, she will be going on brand campaigns that are targeted on the consumer, specifically, the target core audience of Sony Ericsson.

This agreement is in line with the $88 million sponsorship by Sony Ericsson for the WTA Tour which will last for a period of 6 years starting on January 2005.

As Sony Ericsson’s Corporate Vice President and Marketing Head Dee Dutta comments that after seven years of providing quality products, they took their brand up another level with getting an ambassador to represent them globally and securing a place in this highly competitive market.

Maria Sharapova also remarked that although she is better known as associated in the field of tennis, her passion extends further beyond tennis to include music, fashion, design, and even film, which she looks forward to pursuing together with Sony Ericsson in the duration of their partnership.
