A new cell phone released by Sony Ericsson is the W950i, a 3G capable Smartphone that operates on Symbian OS 9.1 UIQ 3. It has a touch screen feature with a focus on providing a great music experience for their clients.

The Sony Ericsson W950i is similar to the physical structure of the Sony Ericsson M600i which is the preferred cell phone for business people who uses the text messaging capability often with the QWERTY keyboard that has a double function.

The Sony Ericsson W950i also comes with its own built in music player with which you can listen to music by turning the volume up or using earphones. You are also able to access FM radio frequencies on your Sony Ericsson smart phone. And to be able to make all this work, it has allotted a big space for memory storage. On the other hand, this smart phone does not have a QWERTY keyboard. Neither does it also have a camera nor a slot for the memory card.

The keypad of the Sony Ericsson W950i smart phone is found to be somewhat flat with a slightly raised dot on the center for tactile feel. The keypad also has contrasting lights to fully emphasize the letters and numbers found on the keypad, which has a back light of white as opposed to its print of black.

Whenever the keys are pressed, you would hear and feel a clickety-click sound made since the Sony Ericsson W950i is not recognized to have a touch pad, which may be quite annoying to some smart phone users. Aside from the usual numbered and lettered keys, it also has a key, bordered in orange, to change the mode into Walkman mode and listen to downloaded music. To revert back to the cell phone mode, you have to click on the orange bordered key again. It also has a cancel key.

On browsing the Web, it uses the Opera Web to have a landscape view of the webpage being accessed. 3G is also possible to be able to talk to anyone online or with a similar device. Other features included are the zoom feature to help make the text just the right size for reading, reaching up to 200% of the original font size. It can also bookmark the page, save the web page, stop pop-up ads, access the page information and gives support for the security the site.

To control the phone when it is in Walkman mode, the user can use the top 3 keys as the previous key, play or stop key, and next key respectively. Other Walkman features consist of the ability to shuffle songs, make your own playlist, rate a certain song track or even put a specific mood to a track. The sorting of tracks according to what the user wants is also possible such as by title, composer, singer, etc.

The Sony Ericsson W950i is definitely the phone to have if you are the music lover. The price of this phone is a bit high and yet some may say, worth it.
