Sony W600i - You and Your Phone Part 1

Here is our first installment in a series of cell phone interviews with regularly consumers just like you! If you want to participate in this series please contact the DiscussWireless.com.

1. Your vitals:

We welcome silQ who owns a Sony Ericsson W600i. He's owned the phone for over 1.5 years and currently operates the device on the Canadian GSM network of Rogers Wireless.

2. What made you choose your current phone? Was it size, colour, features, look, etc.?

I picked the most expensive phone my company would buy for me at the time, as I was preparing to quit. It was between this one and the RAZR and I’ve had a bunch of Motorola’s and the batteries suck.

3. Were you looking for some specific feature in your phone?

Fit in my pocket, but not too small so I don't lose it; a keypad and a call button.

4. Phones are meant to be used to call people, however, nowadays cell phone do much more. What kind of additional features do you regularly use?

Camera, Video, Bluetooth, Walkman, Radio, Games, Alarm Clock, Messaging…. (even though I didn't look for these features I might as well use them)

5. What kind of messaging features do you use? Do you think it’s easy and convenient?

Text and Picture.

6. Tell me about the cool things you like about your phone (the pros). What are the key features you use regularly?

It swivels out the keypad. Battery life is incredible.

7. Any feature missing that you would have liked (the cons). Any features available but don’t work as well as you'd like?

It would be nice if it would make me breakfast every morning… it's like every Sony product slammed into one thing.

8. When will you buy a new phone and will you stick with a similar brand and type?

When I get money again…. Going back to school hasn't been cheap. I may go back to Sony but I may consider the iPhone… or something similar. (Unfortunately SilQ, you'll be waiting over 3 years for the phone in Canada, or you can buy it unlocked for thousand+).

9. If you own a smartphone why did you choose it (or why didn’t you choose one)?

I didn't choose my phone. It chose me.

10. With your provider do you get reliable service?

Yah Rogers is good almost totally throughout the country… except Northern Ontario… yes driving across the country, probably the most dangerous part of my drive was Northern Ontario… and my cellphone was useless up there.

11. Any unique experience you've had with your phone?

Um… I once had a phone call.

12. Additional thoughts?

I've had a bunch of cellphones: Motorola Startac, Nokia 6150, Nokia 8250,Nokia 8850, Motorola V60c, Motorola V300. This was my first sony-ericsson, I like the battery life and ease of use.
