Ten Sure Tips in Saving Your Wet Cell Phone

What would you do when you accidentally drop your precious cell phone in your toilet bowl?
Accidents involving cell phones and water are frequent. According to a survey, approximately 880,000 British have accidents concerning cell phones and toilets annually. You may think that you cannot repair the damage cell phone anymore. Well, you are wrong.

Here are 10 sure tips in drying out and saving your wet cell phone:

1. After removing the cell phone from the water, take out the battery as quickly as you can, the wet battery can cause short circuits and can harm the phone. Take out the SIM card as well, wiping off the water with a paper towel. There is a high probability that battery has been damaged but buying a new battery is a lot cheaper that buying a new cell phone unit. Do not heat the battery because it can explode.

2. Another way to remove moisture from the unit is to hold a compressed air can straight into your cell phone, shooting air into its speaker, mic and crevices. Just be careful not to hold the air can sideways or at an angle that will spill the freezing liquid because this can add damage to your phone.

3. One more tip is to put the unit on top of your television set or on top of an apparatus that emits low heat. Do this for 3 days.

4. If you are outdoors, parked your car where it can be heated by the sun and lay the unit on the dashboard until the fogginess on the cell phone’s screen has disappeared.

5. You can also place your phone inside your rice container. The rice will absorb the phone’s wetness.

6. Or you can place the unit together with silica sand inside the stockings or pantyhose for 3 days.

7. Place the cell phone in your refrigerator for 30 minutes, the refrigerator cool things by drawing moisture out of the thing. However, do not put it inside the freezer; doing so will harm the LCD (Liquid crystal display). Remove the phone for 10 minutes and do again the procedure until the unit is dry.

8. Another way is to make use of your hair dryer but only set it at low heat. However, check if the low heat setting of your hair dryer is not too hot; else do no use this method.

If you dropped your unit in water containing too much mineral or salt, you should take extra steps because salt water can crystallize and this can further damage your unit. These extra steps are:

9. Use alcohol to wash away contaminants. It must be 95% denatured alcohol. Use only methanol because other kinds of alcohol can further harm your phone. Rinse your unit with the alcohol and dry.

10. You can also use distilled water to take away minerals and salts from your damp cell unit. Distilled water will dilute salts and minerals and will wash them away off the phone’s copper parts, preventing rust to form inside the phone unit.

The methods above were already tested and proven successful in drying and saving your cell phone unit. These are not quick fixes but doing these tips can prevent you from buying a new Mobility unit. The secret is being patient.
