Verizon Wireless Calls For Proper and Responsible Internet and Cell Phone Use

Verizon Wireless, one of the biggest wireless service provider in USA and Canada, teamed up with Web Wise Kids to promote the proper and responsible use of the Internet and cell phones. Since most of cell phone users fall under the youth and young adult market, Web Wise Kids and Verizon Wireless find it crucial to disseminate information on how young consumers can take advantage of today's technology without harming themselves and others in the process.

Web Wise Kids is a national non-profit organization whose main objective is to empower today's youth by implementing right decisions on social issues, especially with today's online world. Verizon Wireless joined the advocacy of the group and donated a $300,000 grant. This would hopefully help Web Wise Kids to spread the word and help teach young adults to understand the power of wireless communication and how to use them properly and responsibly.

One of the projects that Web Wise Kids are planning to launch is to develop an educational game online that promotes a sense of responsibility and safety among kids who often goes online and/ or use their cell phones publicly. The game creates awareness on how kids should use their cell phones and how to avoid robbers, thieves and hackers.

The Web Wise Kids' online game can effectively communicate with today's youth who are online most of the time. This is also a game that is a good alternative to other violent online games out there. This way, the youth can understand more clearly on what their responsibilities are whenever they are online or use their cell phones.

During the summit, Katie Canton was one of Web Wise Kids ambassador for the youth who is present during the awarding of the grant. Verizon Wireless and Web Wise Kids are against the inappropriate use of today's technology and they are calling on the public to join them in this cause.
