Yahoo! And AT&T Join Forces
An alliance has been made between AT&T Inc, a leading broadband and wireless service provider in the US, and Yahoo! Inc., a top Internet company globally. This alliance is seen to be a strategic way to enhance the Internet experience of the consumers who frequently go online either at their houses or using their wireless phone. The alliance is set to last for several years.
This agreement is projected to give opportunities for revenue to both companies, based on an increase in advertising on these websites because of the added capability of being able to search for what you need using the search engine that is provided by Yahoo!. Both of these sites can be accessed either from the personal home computer and the mobile phone.
The alliance of Yahoo! and AT&T boast of these new features:
The portal of AT&T at the URL http://www.att.net is now remodeled and Yahoo! powered for the new customers of AT&T. This portal will also be run on the platforms for the email program of Yahoo! which is Yahoo! Mail, and its personalized web page, My Yahoo! wherein clients of AT&T Yahoo!, including those with AT&T internet found in the service area for BellSouth as well as with legacy AT&T WorldNet service.
Yahoo! gives display advertising as well as search capabilities to the customers of AT&T who frequently use the mobile phone to surf the net or the computer at home.
When this new portal at http://www.att.net is introduced, clients of AT&T, irregardless of what AT&T service they have, can now have access to the Internet. Accessing the newly launched Internet portal allows them to check their email and visit the web portal for free. This means that wherever the client may be, as long as they belong to AT&T, they can check their email using their mobile phones or personal computer.
AT&T clients now have the ability to access versions of Yahoo! mobile Web and its Go application for use of the 14.2 million customers of AT&T broadband.
The primary search engine for local searches is now AT&T yellow pages at http://yellowpages.com that helps in the search for several keywords, either using the desktop computer or their cell phone units.
Clients of AT&T U-verse TVSM still have continuous access to the content of Yahoo! using the bar feature of AT&T.
The CEO and chairman of AT&T Inc, Randall Stephenson says that the aim of AT&T is to give their clients more access to the internet since most of what they a do is related to email and searching. Agreeing to Yahoo! services enhances these features by AT&T thus giving their clients and loyal customers a whole lot of benefits. This further reflects their goal of building strong business relationships at present.
CEO and co-founder of Yahoo! Jerry Yang is even proud on how far this alliance of AT&T and Yahoo! has gone in the field of Internet and telecommunications.
