Siemens Mobile Phone Unit up for Sale?

Siemens said it is considering options for its loss-making mobile phone unit but declined to comment on a report that China's Ningbo Bird is a potential buyer. A company spokesman said Siemens had made no decision on whether to sell the division.

The paper said that phone maker Ningbo Bird had been named a potential buyer of the division, citing company sources. Ningbo Bird has a distribution deal with Siemens in China.


Siemens's cellular phone division posted 141 million euros in losses in the fourth quarter of the 2003-2004 business year which ended September 30.
