MVNO Disney Mobile - New Pantech Phones

MVNO Disney Mobile is planning to add a third handset to its line-up, according to documents filed with the FCC and is expected to begin selling its second handset next week.

Pantech submitted for FCC approval of a new handset, the Pantech/Curitel PN-320. The silver flip phone carries Disney Mobile’s logo and is equipped with Bluetooth and a camera. Disney Mobile spokesman Anthony Sprauve said that a date had not yet been set for the PN-320 to make its debut to customers, but that the MVNO was expecting to release it in the fall.

Disney Mobile currently sells only one phone, the DM-P100 from Pantech, which also is a silver flip phone. The DM-P100 costs $60 after a $90 rebate. Disney’s other planned handset, the red DM-L200 clamshell from LG, will be available beginning next week.

Disney Mobile is trying to lure customers to sign up for its service during the holiday season by lowering the cost of its handsets and offering a month of service for free, according to promotions on the mobile virtual network operator’s Web site.

Disney Mobile offer users a free month of service if they sign on by Dec. 31. The move comes as other wireless carriers gear up for the holidays with new phones, revamped Web sites and new rate plans.

Disney Mobile filed documents with the FCC earlier this year to add a third handset to its line-up, a second silver flip phone called the Pantech/Curitel PN-320. The company indicated that it expected to release the phone this fall. A soon release a limited edition “Steamboat Willie”-themed handset, a silver flip phone with a cover that has an illustration of the black-and-white first cartoon incarnation of Mickey Mouse.
