battery question

My LG phone finally broke to the point of me needing a new one. The place where you plug in the charger broke off so now the battery is dead and I can't charge it. My question is, can I take the battery out of my phone, and charge it in my girlfriend's LG phone (same battery) without losing either my or her memory (specifically phone numbers.)?

I wouldn't recommend that if they are different phones, however, you wouldn't loose data as your phone can retain that information even when the battery comes out (at least with GSM phones it does....)
