Alltel LG AX490 CDMA Fastap

Alltel has become the first operator to bring Digit Wireless Fastap text input system to the US with the new LG AX490 CDMA clamshell. The Fastap system uses a regular phone keypad with raised buttons for each letter of the alphabet. The letters, positioned between the regular phone keys, provide similar functionality to QWERTY keyboard equipped devices in the confines of a small clamshell handset. The LG AX490 also allows the use of the alphabet keys as shortcuts to almost any area of the phone's user interface.

The LG AX490 itself is a mid-range device that sports a VGA camera, color OLED external display, speaker independent voice control, and Bluetooth. The LG AX490 was "designed with the racing enthusiast in mind," and as such includes ringtones, games, and graphics themed around Ryan Newman, driver of the number 12 Alltel car in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series.
