LG U400 music phone preview

LG released a 3G music phone for 3 in the UK, the LG U400. The slim, music phones includes a neat design; 5-way d-pad controller that also acts as a scroll wheel for super fast navigation through the handset's menus and track lists.

Users can use the scroll wheel to spin up their favorite hits or use the built-in music shortcut keys without having to open the phone. Additionally, the music player allows one to easily search their music library by genre, artist, or title.

The U400 includes a 2" 320x240 pixel TFT display that is capable of 262k colors. In addition to listening to your favorite MP3s, you can browse the web, watch your favorite music videos TV clips on the U400's screen. Stereo Bluetooth support and built-in stereo speakers are also part of the U400, which automatically pauses music playback during calls.

Additional music remixes and effects can be created with the handset's keypad. LG partnered with DJ experts DMC to offer scratch content and tutorials. The Melody Composer application provides 2 modes, 31 styles, 10 instruments, and 5 tempos to choose from when creating music and ringtones. The handset comes with a microSD expansion slot for those needing extra space for their newly created music, videos, and photos.

The U400 supports the 900, 1800, and 1900MHz GSM frequency bands in addition to the 2100MHz UMTS band. As a UMTS handset, the U300 can be used for video calls when 3G network coverage is available. It weighs in at 114g (4.0oz) and measures 100mm x 48mm x 20mm (3.9" x 1.9" x 0.8"). The LG U300 is available in the UK now.

I'm looking to get some sort of Music phone and wondered if this might be the one.

It'd be a toss up between the U400 and the W900i.

Anyone have any experience with it?
