TI OMAP-VOX in LG Edge Phones

Texas Instruments and LG announced that TI’s OMAP-Vox platform in the LG series of EDGE handsets for GSM networks.

TI’s OMAP-Vox platform is a family of integrated application and communication processors that enables handset vendors to deliver multimedia applications to the mass market, including video capture, playback and streaming, digital still camera functions, color liquid crystal displays and interactive 3-D gaming.

LG’s first products using TI’s platform include the LG240, to be launched in the Canadian market this month, and the ME240 for South American markets launching next month.

LG said delivering affordable, feature-rich handsets is critical to its plans to meet mass-market consumer demand.
