Got a new piece of Motorola? Naturally you would like to transfer your phonebook from your old phone to your new phone.
Consider these steps.
Install Motorola Phone Tools software and do not connect the phone until prompted to do so. Once prompted, be sure phone is powered on before connecting to the PC. Within Microsoft Outlook, create a subfolder under ‘Contacts' called Mobile Phone. Once Motorola Phone Tools is fully installed and initialized, select the Phonebook icon. You will see a two-pane contacts view, with PC contacts displayed on the left side and mobile phone memory contacts displayed on the right.
Of course, reading the phone contacts can take a few moments. Make sure that under the pull down Menu for the PC Contacts that you have selected the Mobile Phone Contacts folder. Highlight the contacts from the mobile phone memory and click on the arrow pointing in the direction of the PC Contacts. After a few seconds you should see these same contact names in red under PC Contacts.
Click on Apply Changes to save these new contacts to your PC. The "disk icon located under the transfer arrows. Close the Phonebook Manager, close Motorola Phone Tools and disconnected your old phone. Reopen Motorola Phone Tools and when prompted with the User Profile dialog, select New, type in a profile name for your new phone and click on OK. Select USB, or your method of connection, from the list of connection options and click next. Make sure your new phone is turned on and then connect it to your PC.
Once Motorola Phone Tools is fully installed and initialized, select the Phonebook Manager icon. You will see a two-pane contacts view, with PC contacts displayed on the left side and mobile phone memory contacts displayed on the right. Make sure that under the pull down Menu for the PC Contacts that you have selected the Mobile Phone Contacts folder. Highlight the contacts from the PC and click on the arrow pointing in the direction of the mobile phone. After a few seconds you should see these same contact names in red under Mobile Phone. Click on Apply Changes to save these new contacts to your mobile phone. Close the Phonebook Manager, close Motorola Phone Tools, disconnect your phone from your PC and you are ready to go.
