Motorola has expanded the capacity of its Multimedia Messaging Service Center to provide scalable growth to support more than 40 million subscribers. Motorola's scalable MMSC architecture allows the product to cost effectively serve the needs of regional as well as national carriers.

In addition to increased capacity and throughput, Motorola's latest MMSC enhancements enable video messaging and picture messaging interoperability. This gives mobile subscribers the power to choose what medium or combination of media they want to use to communicate - video, voice, images, audio clips, video clips or instant messaging - all available simultaneously, in real-time and in a single blended message.

Motorola's MMSC allows for effortless transfer of multimedia information from various MMS-enabled handsets or devices across CDMA, GSM, EDGE, UMTS and IP networks to provide full interoperability between multiple e-mail users on the Internet, and inter-carrier multimedia messaging. It is another step toward achieving Motorola's vision of seamless mobility - giving people the content and information they want regardless of where they are or which device they are using.

The new software also breaks down the typical communications barriers that exist today when trying to send communications to and from different devices. Using integrated advanced transcoding technology from Adamind, the MMSC automatically tailors content to the specifications of the network and device hardware. This allows users to efficiently send multimedia content to virtually any mobile network and any device. Motorola is actively engaged in interoperability testing of handsets with leading operators.
