Past rumors of possible shelving of the samsung i550 have been substantiated according to new information regarding the smartphone. Sprint will cancel what was supposed to be the next in the 500 series. Sprint PCS is believed to be focussing on the sales of the popular Treo series and rather not push another smartphone.
The Samsung i550 is a Palm OS 5.2 powered smartphone with high resolution screen and exterior OLED color display. The phone portion is a CDMA Tri-Mode Dual Band Analog/PCS phone. It would likely be targeted for use on the US Sprint network. It has megapixel digital camera with a flash, an SD memory expansion slot, voice recorder and eternal mp3 playback controls.
