The Treo 700p Production Delays

Rumor has it related software problems will prevent Inventec Appliances from starting production of Palm's PDA phone, the Treo 700p, until September, about 4 months behind schedule.

The Treo 700p, which was unveiled in May of this year, runs on an Intel CPU and the Palm OS, and supports the CDMA2000 x1 EV-DO standard, the sources indicated.

Inventec's strategy of simultaneously developing smartphones based on operating systems from Palm and Microsoft, as well as on Linux, has torn apart the company's resources and jeopardized its product roadmap, including the development of its own-brand smartphones.
