The widely popular Siemens Sx66 is currently the hottest Pocket PC on the Cingular network. Designed with for professionals willing to pay up, the quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) world phone is full of features. These include four forms of wireless communication, GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and infrared, 128MB of internal memory, and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
The Siemens SX66 sports a full QWRTY hidden keyboard behind the handheld's display. A full-size 3.5-inch-diagonal TFT display that supports 64,000 colors; speakerphone; a voice recorder; e-mail; text, multimedia; integrated MP3 player; and more. Since it features Windows Mobile 2003 SE, you get Pocket versions of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. You can also use the virtual private network feature to log onto local networks at home or at work. Memory capactiy is also a pro feature.
Cons for the SX66 include some typical 'problems' that accompany Pocket PCs. Firstly, it is a Pocket PC which means it's bulky. Nothing small about this PDA, 2.8 by 4.9 by 0.7 inches and 7.4 ounces, so don't expect the primary use of this phone to be for calls. The keyboard size will be a problem with large fingers. As well, support for the EDGE network will not happen with this model. Some concern about the battery life, which could be better. Bluetooth does not work seamlessly. Conclusion: does this Pocket PC actually have it all? is the huge demand for the siemens sx 66 reflective of how the actual phone peforms? We say no, it could be better, and the competition seems to have gotten the Pocket PC phone product a bit more polished than this one. Nonetheless, it looks nice and remains very popular with a number of its great features.
