I travel around the countryfor business, and occasionally go overseas as well. I have a Sprint Treo 650 and my Sprint contract expires this month. I just switched my wife to Verizon and was thinking of getting a Verizon Treo. However, a guy at the Palm store has an unlocked Palm. What is the advantage of an unlocked Palm? If it can be used on any domestic network, how are you billed and is the cost prohibitive compaired with sticking with one carrier like Verizon? RVS3

First off, you will have to switch providers because Verizon does not offer unlocked phones since they operate on a CDMA network.
Hypothetically, you could buy 'pay as you go' SIM cards from the destination you visit often and just switch SIM cards. Then you'll be using a phone as if it were from that country, so local air time.
