Aliant launched a World Phone service - available using the Motorola A840 cell phone - as well as the ultra-thin Motorola RAZR V3c cell phone. The World Phone service provides business and residential customers wireless access in over 150 countries around the world. The service area includes many countries across Europe and Asia - making it possible to stay in touch with friends, family, co-workers and business contacts. Customers can also access voicemail and text messaging services using the new cellular service. The World Phone service offers customers seamless cellular coverage as they travel overseas on business or pleasure. The service combines both CDMA and GSM standard technologies employed by wireless carriers - to ensure worry- free global roaming. CDMA is prevalent in North America and GSM is more commonly used by European and Asian wireless carriers.
