XM Satellite Radio in the US on Alltel

XM Satellite Radio is now in the U.S. teaming with Alltel to offer 20 channels of commercial-free music.

The service, which is available for $8 a month, offers several music genres including pop, alternative, country, hip-hop and Latin. Users will be able to access data including song title, artist and album; the offering will be delivered by an application developed by wireless video provider MobiTV.

Shares of XM were up 39 cents, or more than 3 percent, to $11.34 following the news. Alltel stock was essentially unchanged, inching up 3 cents to $54.05.
