Sprint Nextel combine with Pandora for Streaming Music

Sprint Nextel have combined with Pandora media to bring online streaming radio service to complement their music offerings. Customers can now customized “radio station” by entering their favorite song or artist. Pandora’s Music Genome Project provides a continuous stream of songs that have a similar sound and style. The application for Sprint Nextel is integrated with the online version of Pandora, according to the carrier, and up to 100 stations can be saved in a user’s account and listened to either online or via a mobile phone. The service is available free for 30 days, including online and mobile access, and then costs an extra $3 per month with a Power Vision data plan. The Pandora application is available for download via the Sprint Nextel deck.

The application displays song information, including title, artist and album, and users can scroll backwards to see the information for previously played tracks. Customers can also rate songs, thereby eliminating unwanted songs from the stream, and can pause or skip songs. Pandora's proprietary system that utilizes musicians to analyze songs one at a time, identifying hundreds of different musical qualities of each recording, including melody, harmony, rhythm, instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics and vocals.

Pandora is now available on five Sprint Power Vision phones: the LG Fusic, Samsung A900 and A920, and the Sanyo 7500 and 8400. By the end of June, Pandora will be available on all Sprint Power Vision phones. Pandora on Sprint, which includes both ad-free online and mobile access, is available for a no-charge trial for the first 30 days and then costs an additional $2.99 per month with a Power Vision data plan (standard Power Vision charges apply).
