A new business phone from Vodafone, the Qtek 8500 is a slim foldable (clamshell) mobile phone based on the Windows mobile 5.0 OS.
The smartphone includes the usual Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint files can be downloaded from e-mail attachments or transferred from a PC to the phone's memory.
The Qtek 8500 also supports the Direct Push service based on the combination of Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP (Messaging and Security Feature Pack) and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2. This features provides instant e-mail synchronisation through the cellular network, including calendar, contacts and tasks. If the user's e-mail service is not based on Microsoft Exchange, it is possible to synchronise the information with Microsoft Outlook on a home of office PC.
The phone comes with Internet Explorer mobile, Windows Media Player 10 and carries a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera.
Weigthing 99 grams and only 16 millimeters thick, the phone sports Qtek 8500 sports an internal LCD with 240 x 320 pixels, plus an external LCD to present instant information.
Users can connect the new smartphone to a PC via USB connection or Bluetooth wireless. The phone also includes 64 MB flash memory for storage and 64 MB RAM for program execution, and microSD memory cards for external storage.
The Qtek 8500 is as quadband device, working on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands. It works on GPRS networks, but lacks access to 3G (UMTS) faster speeds.
