Webmasters should be aware of the following email that claims to present a fantastic opportunity for cross-linking with a high PR site. I've replied to the message seeking to find out what the 'mystery' site was, yet received no response. It turns out this is in fact a large link farm operation, and signing up will only damage your search engine rankings. Here is a copy of one of the emails:
I am contacting you about cross linking. I am interested in yoursite.com because it looks like it's relevant to a site for which I am seeking links.
The site offers valuable information regarding international phone cards, prepaid calling cards, and the best prepaid phone cards for domestic calling.
I'll keep the web address confidential and will send it to you only if you give me permission to do so. Just let me know if it's OK, and I'll send you the web address for your review. If you approve of the site, then the intention is to exchange links.
Looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely, Bert - Sr. Link Builder bert.pcc@LinkMastering.com http://www.LinkMastering.com Experts in Quality Link Building
P.S. If for any reason you don't want me to contact you again, email me with the words "NO EMAIL" as the subject of your message.

Just a heads up.

Here is another variation of the link farm email:
I am contacting you about cross linking. I am interested in discusswireless.com because it looks like it's relevant to a site for which I am seeking links.
The site offers the latest in electronic communication technology and is a great resource for businesses who require cutting edge fax technology. This is a new professionally built site that is expected to grow to a PageRank 5 or greater.
I'll keep the web address confidential and will send it to you only if you give me permission to do so. Just let me know if it's OK, and I'll send you the web address for your review. If you approve of the site, then the intention is to exchange links.
Looking forward to your reply.

P.S. If for any reason you don't want me to contact you again, email me with the words "NO EMAIL" as the subject of your message. (SURRRRE, just so we can be sure that your EMAIL acutally exists. Do'nt be frauded by scammers like these.)

Remember link farms hurt your rankings so beware!

Another variation: I am contacting you about cross linking. I am interested in discussvideogames.com because it looks like it's relevant to a site for which I am seeking links.
The site offers valuable information regarding internet filters, monitoring, and web blocking software. It is currently a global provider of security solutions that protect against data loss, system threats, and Internet abuse.
I'll keep the web address confidential and will send it to you only if you give me permission to do so. Just let me know if it's OK, and I'll send you the web address for your review. If you approve of the site, then the intention is to exchange links.
Looking forward to your reply.

Trying to make sure you have a real address and combat being reported for SPAM; here is another variation. Dear Webmaster, We already exchanged links your site http://www.discusswireless.com/ I wondering if you would be receptive to link exchanges with our other site. We offer fair trades of links on a decent PR network of our websites. Due to rigorous web hosting anti-Spam policies I'm not able to give the exact domain in this initial e-mail to you, and if you similarly do link exchange e-mails, I would advise you to not give your URL in your initial e-mail. In the past, I've lost many hosting accounts because I've simply given the URL in this initial e-mail and the hosting company insisted that it violated their Spam policies. If the recipient of the e-mail replies for further info, it's no longer deemed "Spam". If you are interested, please reply with your linking details and I will add your site and send you the details of the site I am proposing for the link exchange. If we exchange links, I will then offer other links for us to exchange in the future. Thank you for bearing with this new policy, but it is highly necessary. Sincerely, Adnes _________________ Join the forum & win a free iMate Jaq! |
