Cingular Wireless has unveiled the Cingular 3125 smartphone, measuring just about a half-inch thick and running Windows Mobile 5.0.

Features include wireless access to business and personal e-mail accounts, over- the-air synchronization of calendar, contact and to-do lists, and music, photo and video capabilities. The multimedia capabilities include the possibility of using stereo Bluetooth headsets for listening to music and video. The keypad is a thin RAZR-like setup.

The Cingular 3125 works on Cingular's EDGE network, as well as GPRS where the fastest experience is not available. This new phone is built by Taiwan-based HTC, a leading manufacturer of Windows Mobile-powered devices.

Microsoft Windows Mobile software gives Cingular 3125 users access to mobile versions of many of the familiar Microsoft features found on their desktops, such as mobile versions of Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and Outlook.

Additionally, the 3125 includes the Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Windows Mobile 5.0, providing users with the benefit of Direct Push Technology. This means that email, calendar, tasks and contacts are always-up- to-date making it very easy for users to stay on top of their jobs and connected to the people they care about. The feature pack also provides advanced security features, including remote device wipe, remotely enforced IT policy and S/MIME support.

An alternative email solution is provided through the Good Mobile Messaging software from Good Technology. Consumers can get their personal and work e-mail as well with Cingular Xpress Mail, which is compatible with ISP services.

The Cingular 3125 also features a built-in l.3 mega-pixel digital camera and the ability to record video.
