|
|
Cingular Wireless said it has entered into an agreement to sell its Caribbean and Bermuda operations to Bermuda-based telecommunications provider Digicel Group. Cingular's operations, which it acquired when it bought AT&T Wireless Services Inc. last October, include licenses, network assets and subscribers in Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Cingular is also selling its cellular licenses in Curacao, Jamaica and the French West Indies.
Digicel said the deal, which is expected to be approved by the end of
the year, will provide it with operations in five new countries and
boost its total operations to 14 Caribbean countries. Financial terms
of the sale were not announced, though Digicel said it was a
multi-million dollar deal.
