The United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) has ordered wireless voice and data communications services from Cingular through the federal FISC contracting vehicle.
Norfolk, VA-based USJFCOM already has ordered nearly 700 mobile phones, BlackBerry" wireless handhelds and LaptopConnect cards enabled for Cingular's UMTS/HSDPA-based BroadbandConnect service. USJFCOM is the only one of nine combatant commands in the U.S. Department of Defense focused on the transformation of U.S. military capabilities. USJFCOM personnel include members from each branch of the U.S. military, civil servants, contract employees and consultants.
Cingular Wireless counts more than 1,200 federal, state and local government agencies as customers and provides wireless services to 95 of the Fortune 100 companies and to more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500.
