Bell Canada announced Bell Mobility has launched "10-4," its wireless walkie talkie-style service that delivers virtually instant communication between users with the push of a button, and without long distance charges. With 10-4, a wireless handset works as both a walkie talkie and a traditional cell phone. Bell Mobility's 10-4 service is unique in supporting advanced data services, like messaging, gaming and mobile Internet browsing on the CDMA-based push to talk (PTT) network. Additionally, up to five Bell Mobility 10-4 subscribers can speak with each other at one time, anywhere across the Bell Mobility IX digital network, or on the Sprint network in the U.S.
The 10-4 service is available using specially designed Sanyo handsets,
exclusively available to Bell customers. The Sanyo SCP-7300 is a
rugged-style dual-band/tri-mode phone with large internal and external
colour screens and advanced wireless data services like text and
picture messaging, gaming, ringtones and location services. The Sanyo
SCP-7300 handset retails for $149.99 on a three-year contract. The
Sanyo 4920, a future addition to the lineup, features extended battery
life, including standby time up to seven days. Bell Mobility's
straightforward All-in-one pricing offers unlimited long-distance
calling on all 10-4 plans, which range from $20 to $30 per month per
member, with special offers during the first three months of service.
As a feature added to an existing rate plan, 10-4 service is $15 per
month.
