Bell Canada announced it has formed a partnership with Universal Music Canada, the largest music label in the country, to deliver both artist-performed music ringtones (True Tones) and a unique "Caller Ring Tune" service to its Bell Mobility customers.

The Caller Ring Tunes service is the first of its kind in Canada and will be launched this week with exclusively Universal Music artists. It gives customers the choice to play real music clips for a caller, while that caller waits for the phone to be answered, rather than hearing the traditional "ring ring." In addition to musical clips, celebrity voices and greetings will also be featured to entertain callers.

At launch, Caller Ring Tunes will be available for 150 tracks including artists such as 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, Mary J. Blige, The Cranberries, Bon Jovi, Sam Roberts, Jann Arden and from genres of music such as rock, pop, country, R&B, and hit catalogue such as Supertramp, Kiss, Steppenwolf, and The Mamas & The Papas will be offered on both services.

The Bell Mobility "True Tones", which will be launched in spring 2005, will greatly enhance customers' listening experience. The musical content provided by the Universal partnership will give customers the ability to download real music clips by artists, complementing the synthesized music traditionally heard as mobile ringtones. Universal will make over 500 tracks available as "True Tones" including artists such as 50 Cent, Nirvana, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly, Sheryl Crow, Hoobastank, Jay-Z and Canadians Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, Sam Roberts, Diana Krall and Fefe Dobson. "True Tones" will be available to download directly from any of Mobility's handsets, from Bell's website and from the redesigned music 'channel' on www.Sympatico.MSN.ca , Canada's one-stop resource to experience and buy online music.
