Here's a brief overview of the differences behind the battle between CDMA and TDMA networks. CDMA technology claims to have bandwidth 13x times mores efficient than TDMA, and up to 40x more efficient than analog. (What entails efficiency we do not know....) Another claim CDMA manufactures market is the better security and higher data and voice transmission quality. This is due to CDMA's spread-spectrum technology design which is supposed to eliminate or reduce distortion. TDMA advocates point out the lack of empirical evidence to support any of the CDMA technology claims. Also, TDMA manufactures themselves claim that the CDMA improvement claims in bandwidth efficiency and quality are now being approached by new and future enhancements to existing TDMA technology. Over the next several years, TDMA proponents also claim that TDMA versus analog will also be 40x more efficient. We are aware that TDMA is less expensive to support than CDMA technology. This goes to maintaining and initial network costs (towers, etc.) Higher costs suggests network operators need to be sure the supposedly superior CDMA will attract enough customers to make an investment worthwhile. What are your thoughts on the issues? Post your support for either network technology here.
