Kyocera Wireless will pay InterDigital Communications for the use of InterDigital's 3-G phone patents, the companies announced. InterDigital said the five-year deal includes four payments starting in the third quarter of this year.
InterDigital and Kyocera currently have a licensing agreement over
InterDigital's TDMA technology. InterDigital has made a business
licensing patents for mobile-phone technology. However, the company
recently has set its sights on scoring technology development deals
with companies like General Dynamics Decision Systems and Philips
Semiconductors.
