NTT DoCoMo have developed an advanced, business-use FOMA handset that will provide full access to the Web through different mobile and wireless networks. The M1000 is compatible with W-CDMA (UMTS 3G) networks, and works on GSM and GPRS. The phone can also connect to wireless LAN (802.11b WLAN) available through hotspots around the world. Its main feature is the Opera Browser 7.5 pre-loaded into memory and ready to use. As part of the business features it comes with file viewers that allows users to open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat files. The memory can be expanded through TransFlash memory cards or SD memory cards. The phone supports multiple e-mail accounts, accesing these through POP or IMAP protocols. The phone also comes with Bluetooth, being compatible with hands-free headsets and Bluetooth equipped PCs. The M1000 supports VPN access and comes with pre-installed PIM software.
The touch-screen phone measures 117 x 59.5 x 21.5 mm and weighs 168 g,
with a 2.9" display (208x320 pixels) capable of showing up to 65,536
colours. Users can expect a continuous stand-by of 200 hours and talk
time of 120 minutes. If using video calls the talk time is reduced to
80 minutes. The built-in digital 1.22 megapixels digital camera has an
effective resolution of 310,000 pixels.
