Will an American system work with European games?

Nintendo DS Lite is sold out everywhere in the UK. I am planning to buy one form the U.S. but i just wonder if it's going to be compatible with European games. Is it going to be compatible or not? Are the systems even the same?

Hi!

Yes, the games are compatible with US systems. However, you will need to buy a charger from the UK to charge it because I do not think the charger works with a converter.
