HP and Rogers announced the availability of the HP iPAQ Pocket PC on the Rogers Wireless GSM/GPRS network. The HP iPAQ h6320 (non-camera) and h6325 (with camera) devices operate exclusively in Canada on the Rogers GSM/GPRS network, the largest integrated wireless voice and data network in Canada. In addition, the quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) devices offer global roaming capabilities. Set to address the growing converged data/voice market, the HP iPAQ h6300 series enables everyone from mobile professionals to consumers to wirelessly access digital content and services such as corporate data, real-time email, music downloads and streaming video through a variety of existing and emerging mobile services. The HP iPAQ Pocket PC h6320 and h6325 are the industry's first handheld devices to provide mobile professionals three-way integrated wireless voice and data capabilities over GSM/GPRS, Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) and Bluetooth wireless technology. Providing manageable and enhanced access to corporate data, email and the Internet, the h6320 and h6325 include an innovative feature that connects to available networks and automatically alerts the customer to an alternate network if the initial connection is lost. The HP iPAQ h6320 and h6325 also deliver superb messaging capabilities. MyMail from Rogers Wireless is a real-time wireless email service included at no charge for customers who subscribe to any of Rogers Wireless' Data Service Plans. This powerful solution offers fully synchronized wireless access to ISP email (also known as POP/IMAP or Internet email) via a simple over-the-air download of the MyMail application to the HP iPAQ. Secure, behind the firewall solutions are also available for larger corporate customers looking to have their Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino email delivered wirelessly in real time, as well as instantaneous synchronization of their calendar and contacts.
In addition, when matched with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, e-mail,
attachments, calendar updates and more can be automatically sent and
synchronized with the device over a Wi-Fi or Rogers Wireless' GPRS
network. The HP iPAQ h6320 sells for $479.99 after rebate with a
three-year service agreement from Rogers Wireless and the h6325 sells
for $499.99 after rebate with a three-year voice and data service
agreement from Rogers Wireless. Both are available for purchase at
Rogers Wireless dealer and select retail locations across Canada, HP
Canada authorized resellers, or online at www.rogers.com.
