T-Mobile has said the MDA Vario II will release in Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Slovakia soon.
The Pocket PC MDA Vario II supports HSPDA alongside Wireless LAN, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS technologies. Besides the current standard email clients available to business and private customers, Vario II also supports the BlackBerry E-mail Push client which can be easily installed with the additional software provided. Alternatively electronic mail can also be sent by E-mail Push via the Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with Service Pack 2, thanks to the Microsoft Direct Push technology.
A 400 MHz Samsung processor powers the device, with 128 MB memory capacity for storage, expansible with micro SD flash memory cards. The MDA Vario II runs the Windows mobile 5.0 operating system and include Pocket Outlook, Word Mobile, Excel Mobile and Power Point Mobile.
Talk time of up to 300 minutes and a standby time of up to 200 hours included. The integrated 2 megapixel camera allows photos to be taken and videos to be recorded and sent. A second integrated camera makes video telephony possible.
UMTS/HSDPA network technology is already available in Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Hungary, and the Netherlands - with speeds of between 1.8 and 3.6 megabits per second (Mbit/s). In the USA and the Czech Republic fast surfing is made possible by EDGE, and Slovakia saw the first commercial Flash/OFDM network worldwide entered into operation in October 2005.
