T-Mobile and ALK Combine MDA and SDA with CoPilot Live

T-Mobile announced a market-first with the availability of two new Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices - the SDA and MDA Compact - both being offered exclusively with a UK and pan-European satellite navigation system called 'CoPilot Live', from ALK Technologies.

The MDA Compact, a Pocket PC Phone Edition device, and the SDA Smartphone are the latest sleek additions to T-Mobile's 'Office In Your Pocket' suite of devices, designed to make accessing vital information on the move easier. They provide customers with the power and functionality of the Windows Mobile platform, including Microsoft Pocket Outlook, Pocket Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Instant Messenger. The MDA Compact also features Pocket Word and Excel.

CoPilot Live satellite navigation transforms both the T-Mobile MDA Compact and the SDA into an advanced communications-enabled satellite navigation and route planning system. CoPilot Live takes full advantage of the devices' colour screen, powerful processor, and loudspeaker to provide drivers with accurate and dependable door-to-door guidance. Instructions are given both on-screen and audibly to give simple, turn-by-turn directions. The system will also re-calculate instantly if a wrong turn is taken by the driver.

In addition to satellite navigation, CoPilot Live real-time offers location tracking, messaging and the ability to send new destinations to the driver. This is of particular interest to businesses and mobile professionals. This works by using a secure web site to track the location of staff on the road at any one time.

Both the T-Mobile MDA Compact and the SDA bring business professionals a familiar and comprehensive 'Office in Your Pocket' experience - complete connectivity including full synchronization with Outlook and Exchange, seamless secure access and total control in a sleek, stylish 'slip in it your pocket' design.

Both devices include full mobile functionality including voice calling and SMS. In addition, the Windows Mobile-based devices feature Microsoft Pocket Outlook, Internet Explorer, Instant Messenger, Windows Media Player, PDF viewer and in the case of the MDA Compact - Pocket Word and Excel.
With Windows Mobile-based applications customers can easily send and receive emails, access their personal data like contact information, surf the internet or watch their favourite film clip or listen to their favourite music. Superior connectivity and security is standard with Bluetooth, Infrared and USB functionality included.

The MDA Compact

The Windows Mobile-based MDA Compact offers full PDA functionality in a compact handset. It is an ideal device for those who work hard and play even harder. T-Mobile customers can send and receive emails, view attachments in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF and conveniently edit them using the large hi-resolution touch screen. The MDA Compact also features a 1.3 mega pixel camera with 2x zoom and MPEG4 video capability.

The SDA
The SDA is a high-performance Smartphone suited to the demanding requirements of both work and personal time. Featuring Microsoft Windows Mobile software, the SDA also boasts a massive 32MB of memory for storing files, contacts and images.

Like the MDA compact, the SDA also enables email communication and access to the internet while on the move. Pocket Outlook is available for editing emails or maintaining calendar and contact data. Customers will also be able to enjoy their personal favorite sounds as a video or music file - using the integrated Windows Media Player.
