Telus Becomes Official Telecommunication Sponsor for 2010 Ol

TELUS Corporation thanks the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games for the integrity and openness of its evaluation process in selecting the official telecommunication sponsor of the 2010 Games.

As the premier founding sponsor of the Olympic Bid Committee, TELUS invested more than $4 million in the successful effort to bring the 2010 Games to British Columbia and Canada. As part of the sponsorship process, TELUS submitted a compelling and comprehensive proposal that leveraged the strengths of its 7,200 team members in the Lower Mainland as well as the thousands of others across Canada. It included an extensive plan for delivering all the telecommunications requirements associated with an event of this magnitude. In doing so, TELUS built on its extensive capabilities and experience with events of similar size and complexity such as the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, the 1994
Commonwealth Games in Victoria and the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton.
