Vodafone Germany announced plans to introduce a VPA IV Pocket PC Phone Edition in summer 2005 which will be previewed in two weeks at CeBIT fair. According Vodafone's (German) press release, the VPA IV is basically the same device as previously announced by T-Mobile as MDA IV and Orange as SPV3G. The VPA IV is based on HTC's Universal platform - HTC's first UMTS device and features, according to T-Mobile, Orange and Vodafone: * WCDMA/UMTS * Tri-band GSM/GPRS * QWERTZ/QWERTY keyboard * 520 Mhz Intel Bulverde CPU * 128 MB RAM * SDIO/MMC card slot * Wi-Fi * Bluetooth * Mini-USB * Size (closed): 131,6 x 79 x 21,6 millimeters * Pocket Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Explorer are preinstalled * Video telephony via UMTS
Currently, there is no price given nor more detailed information about
a possible launch in other Vodafone countries. Right now, Vodafone
Germany is the most active Vodafone share in introducing Windows Mobile
based PDAs (they recently released the VPA III aka HTC Blue Angel and
before the VPA II aka HTC Himalaya).
