Very fast, very easy. My phone was activated in about 5 minutes from start to finish. I didn’t get my employer’s discount, but I already knew that was going to happen, and I didn’t get it before.Touch Screen-
very responsive, menus are very clear and easy to use. The keyboard is easy to get used to, and much easier then texting with T9 - and I have pretty fat fingers. Also, I haven’t had any problems operating one handed - very easy, at least in iPod and Safari modes.
the iphone is an amazing device, when I saw it in Jan 2007 I was looking forward for its sale. but then I just thought the price is just way too much 500-600 for a phone, but then I looked arround and found that there are other devices there that are as much like in 2002’s sony ericsson p910/a selling for $$800-1000 but then again maybe because its really the technology behind the product that raises the price. seven years ago its probably a sought after phone. same with this one, its packed with alot of new things, no 3g but thats ok, if its going to take battery life then I’d rather have edge. bottom line I think its worth the 500-600.
Yes, it’s expensive and some people have gripes with the AT&T network. Do yourself a favor and go to an apple store (avoid the AT&T store)and play around with the phone. It will take you 2 minutes to understand even the most intricate detail of this device. Without much ado you will surf on “real” web-pages, you will play movies you loaded into itunes, you will take pictures and email them to your friends, you will see real-time traffic on I-95, use the built in ipod etc. I am not saying that Blackberries and Treos can’t do that — they just can’t deliver as intuitively as Apple can, in such a small portable package, and with so many useful features.
I am deeply impressed by the Apple iphone. Before using it I was skeptical (would the keyboard be decent, worth money, super slow EDGE, ect) after trying it out at the Apple store I was SOLD, my concerns eliminated. I am not a “apple fan boy” and will try to give a unbiased review below. To truly get a real feel for the iphone you have to try it. The iphone and all included accessories (USB cable, Dock, Charger Block) are all high quality and most likely will not break with normal use
This phone is everything that i wanted it to be and more. The keyboard works great for me and even though the edge network is slower than other carriers the safari browser makes up for it. I used to have a Motorola Q and the keyboard on the Q was great so i was a little apprehensive about the iPhone keyboard but its as good if not better than the Q and I have big hands.
It’s the totality of experience that make the phone a winner, not the individual features. The crisp UI, the beautiful screen, the nearly-full true Internet browser, and a great mail client are not heads and shoulders above the competition on their own. However, the fusion of all those features is nigh well seamless.I have owned my share of Palm- and Windows Mobile-based phones. Again, the overall experience of using this phone is what puts it ahead of the competition
Wow, the softies are really trying to rain on this parade. I can’t tell if they are more ticked off because Apple hit another home rum of because the Zune was such a brick?Anyway, the iPhone is terrific. It works, just like everything else Apple seems to be putting out these days. I’ve been a PC/Microsoft guy for a long time, but products like this and the iPod and the Macbook are turning my head. I’m tired of “maintaining” my tech products; but with these Apple devices I get to “use” them.Yes, there are a few shortcomings in the initial iPhone offering, but these will be addressed. Still, for version one of a new product this has, well, it has a WOW factor like nothing released in the last few years. Nice work Apple.
I’ve used virtually every smart phone including: 2 Blackberrys, 2 versions of Palm Treos, including the 700p, the Motorola Q and tinkered with other Windows Smart phones. Every one of them has things they do well and features that are missing. That being said, I haven’t seen a perfect smart phone out there yet that does everything. But what I can say, is that this phone is the greatest and simplest I’ve ever used. After using this phone for 4 days now, I can honestly say, that I will not be going back to one of the other inferior products on the market.
The iPhone is one of the only phones you can say you have fun and love to use. The innovative sync between the multi touch screen and OS X is magnificent: and allows for a lot of innovative ways to use the device. In phone mode, iPhone is simple and as you would expect: with voice quality that I can’t complain about, and the included proximity sensor shuts off the iPhone’s screen when it’s close to your face (to avoid unwanted touches)Mail mode is as you would expect. I have no problem not having push, because it checks my GMail inbox every 15 minutes. Reading through messages is just like on a PC, and deleting a message is as easy as swiping your finger over it!
Things I like/Can’t live without.1) Touch screen. I didn’t think I’d like this as much as i do. It’s so easy to move around, access, dial the phone, type, etc.
2) Multimedia experience - I really love being able to watch video, listen to music, phone, access my contacts, browse the web, etc all through one device. It’s nice not to have to carry three different tech gadgets.
3) THe UI. Simple clean, easy to find stuff, beautiful color/graphics. THe iPod interface should be next generation for everyone.
4) Camera takes beautiful pictures.
5) Safari browser is excellent. It’s so cool to have a full blown browser that is fully interactive.
